Host an Olympics Watch Party

Torn image edge

Few things bring the world together quite like watching Usain Bolt sprint into history or Michael Phelps butterfly stroke his way to the top. Nowadays, it’s rare to find an occasion where we can gather around the television with a big group, cheering in triumph together rather than at or against one another. So, with the Olympics right around the corner, we couldn't be more thrilled.

What better way to celebrate and unite than with an all-out watch party? Picture this: themed snacks and cocktails, games to ignite your competitive spirit, and big-screen entertainment to capture every thrilling moment.

Bring The Olympic Spirit Home with Decorations

Transform your home into a mini Olympic stadium with festive decorations. Think banners with the Olympic rings, flags from participating countries, and gold medals galore. Hang a giant scoreboard to keep track of event times and medal counts. Opt for gold, silver, and bronze color schemes.

Fuel the Champions with Themed Bites

If you’re anything like us, you can’t watch a sporting event without a hot dog in hand. Elevate the classic ball park dog with a (very Parisian) twist. Sub the usual hot dog bun for a croissant instead.

Make mini phyllo dough feta bites in honor of the place where the Olympics originated, Greece! Top them with a drizzle of honey and flakey salt and you have the perfect mid-competition snack.

Take your guests to the other side of the world, with these light and refreshing Sushi Sandwiches (onigirazu).

Cheers to the Athletes with Celebratory Drinks

Craft a cocktail menu inspired by Olympic cities and events. Offer drinks like the "Gold Metal Cocktail," a refreshing (boozier) take on the classic Mimosa. Recipe below:

Ingredients
  • .5 oz orange juice
  • 1.5 oz cognac
  • .5 oz simple syrup
  • Champagne to top
Instructions
  1. Pour cognac, simple syrup, and orange juice into a shaking tin.
  2. Add ice and shake.
  3. Strain into a champagne flute.
  4. Top with champagne.
  5. Enjoy!

Embrace the diverse cultures of the Olympics with beers from around the world. Dos Equis for Mexico, Heineken for Germany, Foster’s for Australia, Miller Lite for the USA, and Sapporo for Japan.

And don't forget non-alcoholic options like the "Marathon Mocktail," a hydrating blend of coconut water and tropical fruit juices.

Go For Gold with a Little Competition of Your Own

Keep the energy high with Olympic-themed games and activities. Set up a mini obstacle course, a bean bag toss, or even a makeshift "swimming" race using pool noodles. For a more relaxed vibe, host a trivia quiz featuring fun facts about Olympic history and athletes.

Pro Tip: Award mini medals or ribbons to the winners of your games. This friendly competition adds an extra layer of excitement and encourages everyone to participate.
