How to Make Halloween Puff Paint Spiderwebs

Easy DIY decor for your Halloween party

Channel your inner spider

We called up Charlotte for this one… Wilbur approves. Think classic elementary decor tool gone spooky. Puff paint can be used to create a spiderweb with an extra sticky factor, who knew? Perfect for sprucing up any surface for your Halloween party: tables, walls, coffins, lamps, windows, placemats, and the list goes on. So does your spook factor.

Only 3 supplies needed

  1. Black Puff Paint: 4 oz. size. One bottle yields around 3 placemat-sized spider webs.
  2. Wax Paper
  3. Invisible tape

Spin your own web

  1. Print off a spider web placemat template. It comes on four separate pages, so tape them together as needed.
  2. Tape two sheets of wax paper together and lay them on the template.
  3. Follow the template while painting the web.

*Tip: go slowly to keep a steady hand and make sure the lines are thick so the web stays together.

  1. Move the completed web on wax paper off of the template to repeat the same process on a new sheet.
  2. Leave each web on wax paper for 2-3 days to fully dry.
  3. Once dry, carefully peel the spider web from the wax paper starting at the thicker parts. Do not pull too hard or fast or you’ll be screaming for other reasons than Halloween scares. The web is fragile and won’t move easily once it’s on a surface, so place with caution.
  4. To reuse (as any wise party planner does), you can peel the web off of the surface and store it between two sheets of wax paper.

Your first web may not be perfect, don’t fret. Imperfections can be easily trimmed off once it is dry. It’s a simple process that can spiderfy any area of your party. Check out our other Halloween party tricks here.
