Natural Aphrodisiacs: Enter Caviar
Why caviar is the next addition to date night
+ It’s full of nutrients: Say no more
Caviar, also known as the "food of the gods," is a delicacy food item—and also one accessible to us everyday, these days. It’s been placed on a pedestal for its luxurious taste and texture for centuries. It’s believed by many to be an aphrodisiac, meaning it can increase desire and enhance performance with a partner. Let’s explore this claim, shall we? You’ll want to grab your sultry research hat for this one. (Does such an accessory exist?)
Throughout history, many foods, plus a few unique other items, have come to be considered aphrodisiacs: including chocolate, oysters, and even rhinoceros horn (see unique item).
Truth be told: Caviar is not, after all, an aphrodisiac.
You could stop reading here, but what about the research hat you dug up?

Is caviar an aphrodisiac? Yay or nay…
The notion that caviar is an aphrodisiac most likely comes from its association with luxury, exclusivity, and indulgence. When in any of these sorts of environments, it’s easy to enhance the overall romantic or sensual experience. Additionally, the moments of sharing and savoring a rare and expensive food item with a partner can create a sense of intimacy and connection, which can enhance romantic feelings. However, it is important to note that aphrodisiac effects are highly subjective and can vary widely depending on the individual's psychological and physiological factors. Ultimately, the idea that caviar is a natural aphrodisiac is more likely a product of cultural lore and symbolism rather than a scientific fact.
But believe what you like… we’re not telling your partner.
Is caviar good for you?
The thought that caviar is an aphrodisiac is in some senses based on its high nutritional value. Caviar is rich in vitamins and minerals, including:
Omega-3 fatty acid
- Essential for good health
- Improve blood flow and reduce inflammation
Zinc
- A mineral that is necessary for the production of testosterone, which is (in case you weren’t aware) an essential hormone for both male and female sexual function
- Low levels of testosterone can lead to decreased libido and dysfunction
- ...so getting enough zinc in your diet may be important for sexual health
In conclusion... by consisting of minerals that improve both blood flow and testosterone levels, one could deduct that caviar assists with sensual desire. We’re not saying that’s science, we’re just drawing conclusions from the science.
