As the founder of Ang Weddings and Events, Tzo Ai Ang has spent over 15 years planning weddings and gatherings throughout New York City, earning a reputation for her calm presence, thoughtful collaboration, and quietly confident style. Based in Manhattan, she approaches hosting the same way she approaches weddings: with intention, grace, and deep care for the guest experience.
Tzo Ai believes the most memorable gatherings do not require excess or perfection. Instead, they’re built on good food, meaningful connection, and an atmosphere that feels welcoming from the moment guests arrive. At home, she prioritizes menu and mood over trends, leaning into candlelight, communal dishes, and personal touches that make people feel genuinely cared for. Her hosting philosophy proves that simplicity, when done thoughtfully, can feel incredibly special.
A: When planning a gathering in my home, I think about the guests and the menu. I love food and the joy of gathering around a good meal. I like to think through the format of the gathering, whether it’s a seated dinner, buffet, or cocktail style, and what would be most enjoyable for the guests attending. Creating an atmosphere that is welcoming and hospitable.
This guest-first mindset mirrors how she plans weddings. The format matters because comfort matters.
A: Making sure they are offered a refreshing beverage on arrival and introducing them to someone they may not already know at the party. I like to set up a grazing board with interesting food items for conversation. I also love having a guest set up a playlist for music they enjoy.
A drink, a connection, and something to nibble. Simple, thoughtful, and effective.

A: Lots of taper candles and pretty votives go a long way in making the table feel warm and inviting. I would handwrite place cards for a personal touch.
Candlelight creates instant mood, and handwritten details signal care. It’s a formula that works every time.
A: A really interesting dish, a new connection, lots of laughter.
It’s not about the tableware. It’s about how people feel when they leave.

A: Simplify the menu and use some store-bought items. If friends offer to bring something, take them up on it. Have them bring a dessert or appetizer. It makes the whole experience feel more communal and shared.
Permission to delegate is sometimes the best hosting advice.
A: I love baking an apple pie with a pecan crumble on top and homemade crust. It can be made in the morning or the day before. I actually make the crust a few days prior and freeze it. Warm the pie while dinner is in progress and add vanilla ice cream when serving.

A: I like listening to the Mood Booster playlist on Spotify.
The goal is energy without overpowering conversation.
A: Creating a beautiful grazing board with cheese, fruit, nuts, olives, charcuterie, crackers, and fresh baguette. Everything is store-bought, takes just a few minutes to put together, and keeps guests entertained while dinner comes together.
Proof that hosting magic doesn’t have to be complicated

A: I like the curated templates and tips on how to execute.
A: One I particularly enjoyed was at Bar 65 of the Rainbow Room. Incredible views of the city skyline, caviar bumps on arrival, a delicious seated dinner, and a DJ hybrid band that kept the dance floor packed. Great food and great music always leads to a fun time for all.

A: I love using candleholders and tapers from The Floral Society. They also have some beautiful flower frog vases that can create a visually impactful moment with just a few blooms.
